What Is Google Workspace — And Do You Even Need It?

A very short & simple explanation

You’ve probably heard the term Google Workspace thrown around during your website setup, but what is it really — and do you actually need it?

Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) is Google’s business toolkit: think Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Drive, and more, all under your business name — like hello@yourdomain.com instead of yourbusiness@gmail.com. It looks more professional and builds trust with your clients.

When might you need Google Workspace?

  • You want a custom email address like hello@yourbusiness.co.uk

  • You’d love all your emails, calendar, and documents in one neat, secure place

  • You’re a growing team who needs shared access to files and inboxes

  • You want to look pro, not DIY

The Magic Perk?

The first year is free (if your site is hosted on Squarespace and you're eligible). That’s a whole year of professional email, calendar and cloud storage — on the house.

But do you really need it?

If you’re happy using a personal Gmail or already have email hosted elsewhere (like via your domain registrar), you might not need Google Workspace. But if you want to level up your brand presence and have everything neatly synced in the Google ecosystem, it’s a smart move.
